Comparison of original and counterfeit candle parts

On the original spark plugs the base of the ceramic insulator has a white powdery patina from the factory, not present on the counterfeit plugs.
Also different are the letters and signs applied to the ceramic part. They are dark blue on fakes and light blue on real candles. there is a noticeable difference in light reflection by ceramics under the marks: fakes have uneven and broken reflections, while the originals are smooth and even.
The metal body of fakes is more shining, but a little bit dirty and as if scratched. The original has a uniform and clean surface. It has a batch number stamped on one side of the nut; the fakes don’t.
The sealing washer of the original is thin and tapered, of the fake it is rounded. The threads on the original reflect the light differently. The side electrode has a smoother curve, while the fakes have a more angular curve.
A spot under the side electrode of a real candle is sunk, while a fake one is convex. The counterfeit ceramic insulator of the central electrode is grayish-dirty in contrast to the pure-white of the original.
The central electrode of real candles is thin (0,82 mm) and the tip is almost burgundy, on fake ones is thick (1,05 mm). The original has a center electrode with a copper rod, fake spark plugs have no copper.
Sometimes fakes are made very high quality, nevertheless they will not work well, t. к. they have no iridium, platinum or copper. That’s why the life of fakes is limited to 12 thousand. km of mileage. The original has it up to 180 thousand. km.

As for fuel economy or a super soft engine start, I can say that I have not noticed that, everything is as usual.
On the downside, these plugs are often counterfeited and overpriced. The price in the stores of spark plugs Bosch Platinum reaches 500 rubles apiece, at well-known online stores they can be found and twice cheaper.

Counterfeit spark plugs. how to detect a counterfeit
Demand breeds supply, so it is not surprising that on the shelves of stores in abundance appeared various fakes of such an important element of the engine as spark plugs. Meanwhile buying products of dubious quality (under the guise of a well-known brand) may cause the owner of any brand of car not only problems with engine starting, but also a significant deterioration of the power unit and even serious damage due to the unreliable fixing of separate components of the counterfeit spark plug.
In view of the considerable popularity of this brand, it is understandable that these plugs are trying to fake especially often. When you assess the price for such goods it is necessary to take into account that in the package of excellent quality the warranty card and operation manual should be present without fail. Besides, there should be a clear “Bosh” marking on the belt just above the thread. At present, fake “Bosh” plugs are made mainly in Turkey and on our market are usually products marked W7 DC and W7 DTC. In addition you can also find the brand W8 ATC, which is generally absent in catalogs “Bosh” at all.
It is necessary to consider the fact that the quality of fake “Bosh” plugs does not stand up to criticism. So, for example, they often fall off the side electrode, and low-quality chrome coating leads to the fact that the plug “hard” stick in the threaded joint. - Body coating is not matte, but shiny;
- Many of the letters and symbols in the marking are difficult to read. The “Bosch” emblem is also of low quality;
- Carelessly welded side electrode;
- The price is considerably lower than that found in brand-name stores and on

Recently, the Czech company Brisk has taken a series of steps to combat counterfeiting by applying new technologies (after special treatment the metal parts of candles have a distinctive blueish tint) and changing the packaging. Manufacturers of counterfeit products, clearly do not keep up with all the innovations and counterfeit candles Brisk and packed today, which Czechs do not use for several years. As with the Bosh spark plugs, the pure white color of the insulator can be a telltale sign of a fake and make a potential buyer wary. Since the metal bodies of the original Champion spark plugs are made by cold drawing technology. they have a dull luster. In turn, the bodies of fakes are made by lathe machining, which is characterized by the shine of pure metal.
- On the original Champion candle just above the thread there is a slanted knurling;
- Champion candles have an increased corrosion resistance;
- The side electrode connection seam is very accurate and almost invisible. any rough stripping tells you it’s a fake;
- The barcode on the packaging should start with a combination of numbers 50 10 874.
For this manufacturer, a visual inspection of the electrodes should be sufficient to determine if they are fakes. So, if the central electrode is mounted crooked and does not have a clear cylindrical shape. you are a fake. This fully applies to the side electrode (it should be fixed straight and have no oblique edges). In addition, it is impossible to remove the o-ring from a real candle, and the insulator must not have any roughness and visible traces of molding (due to the mismatch of molds). Faulty NGK spark plugs also have a poor quality of printing.

Bosch spark plugs: the device
Spark plugs play an important role in the operation of the car: they ignite the combustible mixture that ensures the smooth operation of the engine. Candles consist of a center conductor and a body made of metal, with a welded electrode and insulator. When the piston compresses and moves to the top point, an igniting spark is released between the center and side electrode. The process takes place at voltages of over 20,000 V, which are provided by the ignition system: it receives 12,000 V from the car battery and then increases them to 25,000-35,000 V so that the spark plug functions properly. A special position sensor measures the time when voltage is increased to the required level.
Three types of spark plugs are the most common, varying in composition and device:

What do the terms “dry” and “wet toxicity” mean?
These are motorists’ slang terms. Raw toxicity is the one right after the engine, before the neutralizer. Dry. after the neutralizer: what goes to the exhaust.
Why do we need different plugs if the neutralizer still burns off the unburned mixture?
It does not extinguish everything (by HH and NOx. about 30-50%). So the more wet toxicity, which is affected by plugs, the more and dry. over, the neutralizer successfully dampens toxicity not in all modes: in particular, during mixture enrichment, i.e. during acceleration, start-up, heavy loads, it also does not work efficiently. And on power, starting and fuel consumption, the neutralizer has no effect at all.
State-of-the-art controller responds to skips with a Check Engine light. And how does the neutralizer respond??
Neutralizer does not react to flash skips in any way. At least you can’t see it on the diagnostic. If the process is too neglected, you will get a reduced service life and possibly an early failure. A residual oxygen sensor reacts to skips: it catches excess oxygen not used in the cylinder and gives a signal to enrich the mixture.
