Stationary circular saw with your own hands. Detailed instructions
The presence in the household of the necessary minimum tools for simple jobs justifies the need to have a small box with the simplest tools.
But when there is a need to make a simple repair or to realize a long-held dream of a small hobby, that’s when there is a need to buy or self-made uncomplicated, but very necessary carpentry tool. a stationary circular saw.
The practical application of this kind of tools is held in different ways by different masters, in one all agree unambiguously, is that such a machine is a must in the park home tool.
In practical terms, a stationary circular saw is necessary:
- for longitudinal cutting of wood;
- For trimming the edges of unedged boards to get even sides;
- for obtaining equal sized boards, slats, planks;
- For selecting a part of the board (quarter) to create a tight connection of boards into a board.
- in purely economic terms, the circular saw is simply necessary for cutting firewood from woodworking waste.
At the same time, if you approach the issue of equipping the machine creatively and put a little more effort, the result can be a machine with a whole set of universal functions:
Advantages of making it with your own hands
The table is made taking into account that the hand tool will be installed and fixed on the table, turning it into stationary equipment
Constructing an element with your own hands allows you to make the saw as suitable as possible for your individual conditions. Difficulties in the process will not arise if you carefully study the question. It is possible to make the product to the required size, to distribute everything so that it is comfortable for you.
Every craftsman is able to make a table for a circular saw
The own-built model will be one-of-a-kind, which makes it unique.

, Particularly if a complete repair or construction is planned. Industrial products are not available to everyone. very unaffordable. But of course to make a circular saw yourself, using those materials that are available in the household.
Circular saw stationary at home is created with advancement in several probable directions:
- adaptation of existing hand tools, using a slider and a circular saw for new abilities;
- Improvement of industrial products to expand functionality;
- Assembling it from individual parts made, for the most part, by oneself.
A stationary circular machine includes several main assemblies: a table, a shaft, a slider and some others, the properties of which are not so important.
Making a workbench with integrated saw inexpensive and harsh
The table serves to mount woodworking devices. It can be assembled entirely from metal, which is better, especially for machines with a high power motor. Wood also makes excellent tables for the circular saw. However, please note that the countertop should be covered with a sheet of metal, otherwise the wood will soon wear out. The tables must be rigid and stable, able to withstand a large load during the work. The surface is made perfectly smooth, over the rotating parts is inevitable installation shields protection.
For self-made circular saw is well suited engine from a washing machine. Portable tools are less suitable: their collector motors are designed for short-term work only. They have a very high speed, low efficiency, fear of clogging. It is possible to apply a three-phase electric motor, if a household does not have 380 V, it is useful to buy capacitors, so it will work from 220 V.
The most critical component is the shaft. Use a ready-made, if available, or turn it out of round metal. The work on the lathe is done in one set-up, then in the assembly with the working tools inspect the centering. Even a small runout is unacceptable, otherwise it will become more severe in the works, when it is unacceptable to work. On a shaft there are seats: for circular saw and for pulleys. Also grooves for planing knives are made.
The properties of the circular saw, the motor and the greatest thickness of the lumber, which is an option to cut, are mutually related. The purchased circular saw blade is marked with the maximum rpm for which it is designed. Number of revolutions transferred by the motor to the shaft is less. Motor power influences the very permissible cross-section of the toothed saw. Cross-section is obligatory than two, than thrice the thickness of material, otherwise it will be difficult to saw. It is believed that for the sawing of materials 100 mm wide, the motor needs more than 1 kW of power.
The transmission is made by V-belt only. if foreign objects get under the saw, the material jams, the belt slips on the pulleys. Injuries in this option is practically eliminated. It is important to choose the right gear ratio. Let’s take two figures into consideration: the engine rpm and the very permissible rpm of the circular saw. Calculate the cross-sectional areas of the pulleys. On the engine is installed pulley with a huge cross-section, and on the shaft for the circular saw. with the smallest, in order to increase the number of revolutions.
The speed of the shaft with a circular saw is not as simple as the motor speed, how much smaller is the cross-section of its pulley from the pulley cross-section on the engine.

For work with wood in huge volumes it is better to have a machine that allows you to cut the material, plan, select a quarter. Requires a fairly powerful motor, rigid table. We show the construction made of angle iron and steel. It ensures the cutting depth of 60 mm, of course to plan 200 mm wide boards. A three-phase 1.1 kW, 2700 rpm electric motor is used. Capacitors are needed for 220 V connection.

Table for handheld circular saw
The designs of homemade sawing tables for manual circular saws are numerous, but most of them are the fruits of creative search and/or self-expression. However, they are quite workable. However, the optimal options for those who have not to show and do, but to work with it, can be seen clearly enough.
This is a hinged sawing table for a hand-held circular saw (left in Fig.). Tabletop. 12 mm laminated plywood; 400 mm high columns. furniture grade laminated chipboard 16-24 mm. Making mullions out of planks is undesirable because it would not give the desired table rigidity. Table top overhangs. 30-60 mm.
Circular saw table for handheld circular saw
Circular saw table top construction shown on the right in Fig. Through grooves for saw disk exit (one groove is possible) are cut by width of 6-10 mm. No particular precision is required, t.к. stop (see Pic. below) can be set for sawing on the saw blade. tabletop dimensions can be changed arbitrarily (up to approx. 900x1200mm of 16mm plywood). Locking in the working position (knot C in fig.). with M8 screws with wing nuts. Swivel knot (pos. B). a piece of pipe (can be plastic). Its attachment to the tabletop. you can do it with countersunk screws through the through holes.
Instead of hinges. L-shaped pieces of bar D8; a small backlash in the tube does not affect the quality of sawing. Each “hinge” is additionally bent in a vertical plane at an angle of 30-45 degrees. The long “G” sticks are threaded and fastened in the headstock with a pair of nuts with split washers. The mounting holes in the tsargue are best marked in place by inserting the “hinges” into the tube and laying the table top on the base.
Make a solid sliding stop for the workpiece, as in pos. 3b in the large fig. at the beginning, not necessarily. It’s better to make it (stop) from a piece of 40×40 steel angle, having cut off its vertical flange, as it’s shown on the pic. (rear view).
Construction of sliding stop from steel angle for homemade circular table
Such stop is fastened to the table top with clamps, and its parallelism to the saw blade must be checked in any case; it is done with a metal-square with millimeter marks.
Fastening of the manual circular saw in the sawing table in clamps
Circular saw is fastened to the table top spoilage with the disc upwards. If the tool is not under warranty and the loss of cutting depth is insignificant, 4 holes D8 are drilled in the saw shoe and it is secured by through-headed countersunk screws. It is very advisable to put 1-2 mm rubber between the shoe and the table top (like on the base of the table)., from the autocam), the cutting quality will improve noticeably due to the damping of vibrations of the tool. If it is necessary to minimize the loss of depth of cut, a through cut-out is made in the table top for the shoe of the instrument, the saw is fixed to the steel sheet of 3-6 mm thick and it is fixed in the rectangular hole on the front (working) surface of the table top (see Pic. rice. on the left). But the hole will have to be selected with a hand-held wood router, you can’t make it flush with a chisel.
If the tool is a warranty or rental tool, loss of depth of cut is inevitable, t.к. It is not allowed to make a hole in the saw shoe. For such a case, a variant of fastening of the saw in clamps is known (see “fastening of the saw in clamps”). trail. fig.). Not suitable for regular work in large quantities, but it can be done quickly and you can saw evenly for a day or two.
