The electric drill is one of the most versatile repair tools. By changing drill bits, you can make holes in plastered walls, pipes, wood and metal. Protect your valuable tool from wear and tear by changing drill bits to the right ones for each specific material. Determine if you need a chuck wrench to loosen the drill bit clamp, then do so and remove the drill bit. Take care of your drill and drills to extend the life of your tool.

- Spray the chuck with rust dissolver, grease or machine / any mineral oil.
- Let it stand for 5-20 minutes.
- Use a gas or plumber’s wrench to clamp the chuck so that the drill is on the left hand side.
- Clamp the construction with a vice, clamp or simply with your feet.
- Place the screwdriver on the clamping ring, in the slot between the teeth, tilted away from you.
- Deliberately tap the screwdriver handle with a hammer, causing the ring to turn.
If you have two gas wrenches, you can try turning both rings in opposite directions at the same time.
Tip Be sure to check the chuck for grooves, dents, or other defects inside the chuck. If so, it is better to change the nozzle. Open the chuck as far as possible and unscrew the screw on the “bottom” to remove the nozzle.
