Rules for mixing two-stroke oil with gasoline and diesel fuel

Understanding the role of lubricants in the operation of the 2t engine will allow you to dilute the oil with gasoline in the correct proportions. Knowing the consequences of too much or too little oil in the fuel you will not allow mixing your mower or chain saw by eye.

This instruction applies to all two-stroke oils and in particular to Agro Formula s 7858 from Mannol, which we also have in stock.

Classification of 2-stroke oils

Classification according to API provides division of oils into 4 categories:

  • TA. for air-cooled 2t engines used in mopeds, motor blocks up to 50 cm3 or up to 200 cm3 (oil Naftan 2T-Super);
  • TV. used in chainsaws, scooters with a cylinder displacement of 50-200 cm3 (e.g. Mannol 7858 Agro for STIHL);
  • TS. used in snowmobiles, motorcycles (Orlen Oil 2t Semisynthetic);
  • TD. used in boat engines, jet skis, etc.д. (two-stroke oil Sibi Moto 2t, Naftan 2T-Mix).

The smoke classification developed by the Japanese (JACO) defines the following oil categories:

thin, gasoline, stihl
  • FA is a class with minimum smokeless emission requirements;
  • FB. meet high smoke emission requirements;
  • FC is a class of smokeless oils;
  • FD. improved smokeless oils (for yachts, boats).

How to mix (thin) gasoline and oil for 2t engines.

To summarize the above. Use for your brand equipment an oil designed or recommended by the manufacturer of that equipment. For example, for the STIHL FS 55 brushcutter, STIHL HP oil (see STIHL manual for the STIHL FS 55 brushcutter). Figure 1a) or STIHL HP SUPER, for Husqvarna 128R brushcutters use Husqvarna HP oil (Figure 1b) or Husqvarna LS oil. For 2.2-stroke engines, do not use 4-stroke engine oils. e.g. 10W30, SAE 30, etc.д.

Useful tip

Never use 2-stroke oil intended for water-cooled engines, since these oils are designed for operation at lower temperatures.

It is necessary to follow the proportions of oil and gasoline for the fuel mixture specified by the manufacturers in the operating manual. The most common proportion indicated by Chinese manufacturers is 1 part oil to 25 parts gasoline, and by STIHL and Husqvarna it is 1/ 50.When preparing a small volume of mixture (up to 1 liter), it is very important to carefully measure the amount of oil in the mixture. Even small miscalculations in the amount of oil can lead to serious inconsistencies in the mixture. In these cases a medical syringe may be used for accurate dispensing.The fuel mix should be prepared in a clean container designed for this purpose. (refer to. figure 2)

Useful tip

I do not recommend using improvised plastic bottles and canisters, as gasoline can dissolve plastics and all this “slurry” gets into the fuel tank and disables the carburetor.

Plastic canisters designed for gasoline are always marked with “flame” sign. It is very convenient to use a canister with a no-fill system (see Figure 3). figure 3). The no-fill system has a valve that prevents fuel from spilling when the tank is full.

What is the best oil to choose for boat motors.

Also note that if these oils cannot be used to make gasoline mixture for boat motors. 2T motor units shall be filled with petrol mix of at least 89 octane number with high-purity detergent oil grade NMMATC-W3 in proportion of 1:50 for operating mode, and. 1:25 for break-in period (first 5-10 hours). Choosing the right oil.the basis of engine operation, so each manufacturer recommends pouring into the technique certain brands of oil, thereby guaranteeing the longest service life of the product. So for boat engines (both 2t and 4t) tohatus service center recommends to use german motul or american quicksilver oils. Use only quicksilver motor oil for mercury boat engines. For Honda boat motors, the preferred brands are motul and statoil.

Useful tip

It is not recommended to use the fuel mix if more than two months have passed since its preparation.

Rules for storing the mixture

It is practical to prepare at once a certain volume of mixture for future use. Follow proper storage procedures:

  • Store the petrol-oil mixture for not more than 3 months, because it stratifies;
  • Use a container for storage that does not let the sunlight shine in. Keep it out of direct sunlight;
  • Do not place the container near heating appliances.
