This is due to the high loads on the plough when lifting a layer with a thickness of 20-25 cm. For making a self-made plough for a motor-block, alloy steel 9ХС is suitable. It is better to make it removable; this will make it possible to sharpen it before ploughing if necessary. Normal carbon steel that has not been heat treated can also be used, but it will need to be prepared before use. Namely: You should cold hammer and grind a cutting part of a ploughshare before plowing.
Different variants are used for making the mouldboard. Here are some of them.
Shaft of homemade plough with cylindrical surface. To do this, you need sheet bending rollers. The mouldboard billet made of steel, thickness 3-4 mm is fed to the rollers at an angle of 20° for its deformation. After that, fine-tune the template by hammering.
The moldboard can also be made of steel pipe. Its diameter should be 540. 600 mm, and wall thickness. 4-5 mm. To begin with, you should prepare a template of heavy cardboard, and then impose it on the tube, so that the angle between the lower formation of the moldboard and the cylinder shape of the tube was approximately 20-23 °. After that, you need to outline the contour of the moldboard with chalk, cut it and machined on an emery board.

After the working elements of the plow are ready, you can begin to assemble the body. But here you will need a welder and a sheet of steel with dimensions of 500500 mm and a thickness of 2-3 mm. We must draw an angle on the plate as shown in the picture, with 40mm off the edge.
We mount ploughshare under angle α0=25° to metal sheet and “tack” it by welding from both sides. Approximately 5 to 8 mm beyond the edge of the ploughshare, let the side plate of the stand stand stand vertically under the ploughshare. The stand shield must be positioned 6-10 mm higher than the share blade, so as not to interfere with the work of the share blade, and attach it to the share and metal sheet by welding.
Next we make a connection between mouldboard and coulter. There must not be any gaps between them. To clarify. the angle between the top edge of the moldboard and the blade is equal to γmax = γ0. which is about 6-8°.
After adjusting the mouldboard to the share it must be welded to the side shield and to the share at the back. In the final step, the base plate should be welded to the ploughshare stop angles, and then this plate and the spreader bar are welded to the side plate. If you are satisfied with the result, then all the seams can be finally “passed” by welding, after which all the seams must be cleaned. The sheet on which the homemade plow for the motoblock was assembled should be detached from your product. The plough blade and mouldboard need to be grinded.

Types of equipment
There are three main types of plow on the market today:
A single-hoe plough for a power tiller has only one ploughshare and is designed for working light soils. A similar plough for a power tiller can be used on the Neva. As a rule, this option is suitable for owners of ordinary garden plots. When you need to process heavier ground, much less virgin land, this plow is not suitable. In this case a more powerful plough should be chosen to work with a motor-block.
Reverse, or as it is also called a reversible, plow for motoblock (rotary plow) is designed for plowing rather hard and hard soil.
The principle of the rotary plough for a power tiller is that the upward-bent ploughshare turns the ground. Shape of ploughshare. feather blade. The reversible plough is compatible with most medium- and heavy-class power ploughs. It’s good to use this plow for a MTZ power tiller.

The first furrow and the angle of the mouldboard
After the previous steps have been done, it is the turn of the last adjustment, so that the subsequent furrowing will go easily. To do this, the single-axle tractor is placed on the edge of the plot, drive the plow into the ground and pass the first furrow. At this stage, it is important to keep the line to the trimmer straight so that the following passes are also straight. Here a spike or other point of reference can be of some help.
At this stage it is best to check how deep into the ground the plough goes. put a ruler or tape measure into the furrow. Adjust the plowing depth if necessary.
Then with one wheel the single axle tractor is placed in the furrow and the plow is oriented so that it is perpendicular to the ground, to do this accurately, use an angle piece. If you are uncomfortable doing it in the ground, set the single-axle tractor on a flat surface, putting under one wheel a stand corresponding to the depth of the furrow. After that, the plough setup is considered complete and you can proceed to the second, third furrow.
Homemade single-hoe plow for power tiller
The single-hoe plough is the best choice for the power tiller. Before making it, you should immediately think about making a removable ploughshare. Even if it will be made of high-alloy steel, it will still require periodic sharpening. A well-sharpened ploughshare will not only make the work of the plowman easier, but also reduce wear on the power tiller itself.
It’s worth to realize that you will hardly succeed in quality assembling of this construction without help of drawings. Look at the picture below for a rough example of what a single hull plow would look like.
You need 3 to 5 mm steel to create the working components. The blade is the first thing to do, the best option for making a homemade plowshare is to make it from a circular saw blade. The disk is not difficult to find, but if not available, then use steel alloy 9ÕÑ. If you can’t find any, use ordinary, heat-treated steel. Use an anvil to hammer out the cutting edge and then sharpen it with an emery.
The mouldboard is made from an ordinary pipe of the same size. For a power tiller, a tube with a diameter of 500 mm and a wall thickness of up to 5 mm is quite suitable. You can find a thicker pipe, but not necessary, it will increase the weight of the plough, in addition, it will have to be machined on the anvil. To cut a precise billet out of the pipe, you should first make a template of the moldboard on hard paper, or better yet, make it out of cardboard. The moldboard is cut out of the pipe with a gas torch according to the dimensions by a cardboard template. All edges of the future blade are smoothed by grinding.
Now you need to assemble the layout of the future construction, to do this you need to cut out the relevant parts and carefully glue them together. When gluing, adhere to the following geometric dimensions: angle alpha 25.130 degrees in different parts of the body, the gamma angle of 42. 50 degrees. Now you can start making the plow, if the cardboard copy corresponds to the given dimensions and parameters.
After finishing all components: ploughshare, mouldboard, to assemble a small sheet 50×50 cm is quite suitable to make the assembly and tack weld the design by spot welding, and then completely weld. Step back from the edges 40 mm, angle the ploughshare at 25 degrees and “tack” in two places on the edges by welding. The side plate is also tacked vertically to the coulter, and it must go 6-8 mm beyond the edge of the coulter. Plate has to be made higher than the cutting part of the ploughshare by about 5-10 mm. The indentation is necessary for unhindered undercutting of the blade.
The support is made of steel plate, the thickness of metal must be no less than 10 mm. The mouldboard and the share are joined flush without any gap. The connection between the mouldboard and the coulter must be complete. The angle between the blade and the top of the blade should be 6 to 8 °. In case the angle of the mouldboard does not coincide with the angle by hitting it with a hammer. If all parameters are adjusted, the mouldboard is tacked on the rear side with the ploughshare and side shield. Then the plate has to be welded to the spacer bar and the base plate. After “tacking” by welding, inspect the construction, if all dimensions are correct, weld all joints thoroughly.
Chisel away the metal sheet, on which the construction was assembled, with a chisel or use an angle grinder. After the welds have cooled, scrape off the slag and clean them with a wire brush. Clean the working side of the ploughshare and mouldboard with sandpaper.
Design of the plow
The following types of plows are popular today:
The first type is the most common. There are plenty of diagrams and blueprints for a single hull plough on the internet. This is the preferred solution for those who have no experience in making such structures themselves.
You do not need any special tools for its creation. A standard set, which can be found in any garage or outbuildings, will suffice.
The reversible plough is distinguished by the presence of a curved feather in the upper part of the design, allowing the earth bed to be turned immediately when it is lifted. This is the best choice if you will be working on hard ground. Because of the complex constructional solution, only a specialist is able to manufacture it.
The most labor-intensive is a rotary plow. Its construction is similar to that of a cultivator, as it is equipped with several coulters attached to one axis. During plowing, the axle is turning, which causes the soil layer to overturn.
The advantage of this type of plough is that it can plough up to 0,3 m depth without great physical effort. In addition, it makes it possible to carry out arable work on various trajectories.
How to choose the right plough for your Neva power tiller?
The plough is a specially shaped ploughshare and heel. With this design it is very convenient and easy to plow stale, hard soil. This attachment is made of strong steel, as it performs quite a complex work with increased load.
Plows come in a variety of types:
- Rotary. has several working blades. The soil is only worked to one side, so you have to keep going back to the beginning;
- Reversible. It has a feather-like shape, which makes plowing very hard and stale soil very easy and fast. In this case, at the end of the furrow you only need to turn around and continue working;
- Single body. Has only one ploughshare and is designed to work on light soil types.
There is another type, the Zykov plow. It has a special design:
- support wheel;
- Double sided body with ploughshare and mouldboard. It not only allows you to shred the land, but also to turn it;
- The ploughboard rests in the furrow. This makes the design more stable;
- is attached to the ridge with a stand;

Ploughs can work with MTZ-09H motocultivator and other modifications of the manufacturer:
